League Operator/ President - Sandy Harrington
Sandy Harrington is the active League Operator and President of the Women of Grand Prairie League. Sandy has been the active President since 2011.
Pool (billiards) has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. When I was five, my dad cut the butt of a cue stick off so I could hold it and shoot while on a stool. I later got truly interested and fell in love with the game when I was 17.
I joined my first mixed teams league when I was 19. And then, I started playing in an all women’s league when I was 21 (I could go to the bars by myself!) In the past 16 years of playing, I have enjoyed playing in several leagues throughout the DFW area and gone to many State and National level tournaments. As well, I have competed in the OB Cues 9-Ball Ladies tour throughout Texas for two years and am looking forward to being able to participate in it again soon.
In my experience of playing this intriguing game, I have met so very many wonderful women! These women have taught me so much in my skill of the game, and have helped me grow as a person in my life too. As my love, passion, and respect for the game has grown, I have felt compelled to stand up for the integrity and competitiveness of the game by starting a new fully Player-Ran and Player-Owned league. I am very excited to embark on this journey of starting a new league with all the strong competitive women supporting me in this endeavor. Women that I am honored to call friends.
